Essay : Reflection on Intro to Multimedia Arts

DIRECTIONS: Give 5-10 sentences discussing the relevance of multimedia to different areas of society such as business, education, science and medicine, entertainment. Why do you choose multimedia Arts / Artist as a career in the future?

ESSAY:

Arts played a crucial role in developing our current society, as everything we can see, hear, touch, smell, taste, and feel - is art itself.  We can see paintings, wood carvings, such as chairs, beds, tables, etc. and we can feel these things through our sense of touch. The things we also eat are a form of art, as well as the sounds we hear. Whether it be music or audio manipulation. All of these things are an art form itself, in which we can feel something towards to. Even the language we speak is a form of art, the play of words, and the intonations of each vowel and word.  Art is everywhere, and art is everything. Society treats art as something not important - as being an architect, doctor, or scientist is much more important and impactful. But what the society does not understand is that an architect is also making buildings out of art, the way they make establishments and houses is art itself. A doctor does not save lives just because they studied or practiced, they save lives because they already mastered the art of medicine, the surgeries they do are an art form of itself. While being a scientist also requires you to think creatively and openly. If art is lost, no one in the world would be able to improve and think properly, as all of our ideas come from our ability to be creative, and upon acting on the creativity, we make art. 

I want to be a filmmaker because of this specific reason - I want to share my art with people. I want people to see the stories I wrote in action. I want them to feel my characters' emotions, and I want them to learn through my characters' mistakes. I want my stories\films to change the world, into something much brighter, and safer. Books and films are a good way to influence people, as it gives them the chance to understand through someone else's perspective. It opens people's eyes, as they empathize with the characters. That is why I want to be a filmmaker - I want my stories to be real. I want them to see what I see, make them feel what I feel. Being a Multimedia student is the first step in making this possible, as multimedia arts would train my skills, not just in film, but in all aspect of arts.
